Steps to Backup Data From External WD HDD

You can easily backing up and archiving data from external WD HDD. You can prevent data loss by backing up your data.

Backing up and archiving data from external WD HDD
  • Connect a USB cable to your hard disk drive and connect the other end to your computer.
  • Wait for a few minutes until your computer identifies the WD HDD.
  • Press the Windows and E buttons together to open the File Explorer window.
  • Now, double-click on the WD HDD drive to open it.
  • Locate the WDAnywhereBackup_Windows.zip file. Select the file and press the Ctrl and C buttons together to copy the file to your clipboard.
  • Go to the Downloads library and paste the copied file.
  • Highlight the .zip file and right-click on it. Select the Extract All option from the displayed list.
  • Now, the compressed file will be extracted to a new folder near to the .zip file.
  • Double-click on the Setup.exe file and run the installation.
  • When prompted to choose your language, select it from the drop-down list. Click OK.
  • Select Next to open the Welcome screen window.
  • Complete the WD Anywhere Backup software installation by following the on-screen instructions.
  • Open WD Anywhere Backup and check whether the WD hard disk drive appears on the left panel of the screen,
  • Click ‘Customize My Backup’ and select the Create button. Click Next.
  • Choose Hard Drives when prompted to select your backup destination.
  • Click Browse and select your drive location.
  • Select the ‘My Own Backup Items’ option and choose the folder you want to backup. Click Next.
  • Once you have selected the folders for backup, enter a backup name and click Next.
  • Now, the WD software will start backing up your files and archive them In the specified location.
