Method 2 - Manual Update

  • In the main panel, go to the Manual Update section and click the Update From File button.
  • Choose the WD firmware file that you have downloaded already and click Open.
  • Select the Install and Reboot option in the Update Firmware window.
  • The firmware update process will begin.
  • Once the update completes, the ‘Firmware update successful’ message will be displayed in the Reboot window.

Step 2 - Configure the macOS Finder to display the connected network devices

  • Click the Finder tab at the top of the screen.
  • Choose the Preferences option.
  • When the Finder Preferences window opens, click the General tab.
  • Select the checkbox next to the Connected servers option.
  • Navigate to the ‘New Finder Windows Show’ drop-down menu and click Desktop.
  • If necessary, select the ‘Open folders in tabs instead of new windows’ option.
  • Close the Finder Preferences window.
