Troubleshooting Wd Backup Drive

If your WD Backup drive is not working, carry out the Wd backup drive troubleshooting instructions given here to resolve the problem.

  • Check if the WD drive is properly connected to your computer.
  • The computer must detect the WD drive. If not, Wd backup drive troubleshooting has to be done.

  • Stop the WD software running on your computer.
  • Make sure the antivirus program running on the computer is not blocking the WD Backup program.

  • If needed, uninstall the antivirus program from the computer.
  • The WD Backup Drive Helper service must start once you launch the WD Backup program on the computer.
  • Check if the WD drive is compatible with the WD Backup program.
  • Outdated firmware might also be the main reason for the drive problem.
  • Open a web browser on the computer in which you have connected the WD hard drive.
  • Visit the manufacturer web page and download the drive’s firmware.
  • The downloaded firmware file will be saved in the Downloads folder.
  • Double-click it and then continue with the on-screen guidelines for Wd backup drive troubleshooting.
  • This will update the firmware of the WD drive.
  • Click the Win logo located at the bottom-left end of the screen.
  • Enter services.msc in the search bar and choose the same from the results.

This will open the Services dialog window on the screen.

  • Search for the WD Drive Manager service and check if it is set as Automatic.
  • Also, set the rest of the WD services (WD Backup, WD Backup Drive Helper, and WD Backup Snapshot) to Automatic.
  • Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.
  • If needed, uninstall the WD Backup program from the computer.
  • Download and install the WD Backup program once again.
