Setting Up Your WD Blue Pc Desktop Hard Drive

Physical Setup

  • Open your desktop computer’s CPU cover. Prior to that, make sure your desktop is turned off completely.
  • Now, unpack the WD drive.
  • Look for the drive slot inside the CPU and take it out.
  • Insert the WD drive in the slot. If screws are available, then mount them properly.
  • After inserting the drive properly in the slot, place the slot back into the CPU.
  • Now, connect the necessary cables such as data and power cable to the drive.
  • Make sure to connect the driver securely.
  • After doing it, close the CPU cover.

Installing The Driver

  • Turn on your computer.
  • Look for the newly installed drive on your computer’s My Computer folder.
  • If the WD drive is not listed, then open the Disk Management window on your computer.
  • In the Initialize Disk dialog box, make sure that the GPT option is selected and click the OK button.
  • Now, your WD drive will be listed as unallocated.
  • Right-click on the unallocated section.
  • Choose the New Simple Volume option.
  • In the wizard titled Welcome to the New Simple Volume, click Next.
  • If required, make changes to the drive size and other preferences by following the on-screen instructions to make your drive is recognizable.
  • Once the driver is detected, it is ready for use.
