WD discovery map network drivers

If you aren’t able to click the WD discovery map network drive greyed out button on the WD Discovery tool, follow the below-mentioned troubleshooting methods to fix the issue.

Method: 1

  • First, check whether you have connected the WD device properly to the computer.
  • Make sure you have installed the suitable WD Discovery on your computer.
  • Launch the WD Discovery tool and select the WD device from the left-side panel.
  • If the Map Network Drive section is greyed out, reset the WD device and relaunch the WD Discovery tool.
  • Choose the device from the left-side panel and click the Allow my network settings to be configured automatically button.
  • Click the Refresh button and check if the problem persists.

Method: 2

  • On your Windows desktop, click the Windows icon and type “control panel” in the search panel to get the WD discovery map network drive greyed out.
  • Now, open the Windows Control Panel from the search result.
  • Click the Credential Manager tab and open Windows Credentials.
  • Click the Add a Windows credential option and enter the network address, username, and password that was created for the WD device.
  • Click OK and restart your computer.
  • After restarting, you can map the network drive using the WD Discovery tool.

Method: 3.

  • Press the Windows + R shortcut keys to open the Run panel and type “Regedit” in the text field.
  • Press the Enter button to open the Windows Registry Editor.
  • If the User Access Control (UAC) window pops-up, click the Yes button.
  • In the Registry Editor window, click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder available at the left-side panel and select SYSTEM à CurrentControlSet à Services à LanmanWorkstation.
  • Otherwise, type “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation” in the search bar to navigate to the file path.
  • Give a right-click on the screen and select New à DWORD (32-bit) value.
  • Change the DWORD value name as “AllowInsecureGuestAuth.”
  • Give a double-click on the new value to open the dialogue box and change the value to 1.
  • Click the OK button and close the Registry Editor window.
  • Now, restart your computer and check if you are able to access the WD discovery map network drive greyed out Discovery tool.
