WD Discovery is a unique desktop application that can be installed on both Mac and Windows computers. Western Digital introduced WD Discovery to do all of the following activities:
- Maintaining and managing your connected WD devices, such as My Book, My Passport, and My Cloud Home drives.
- Making complicated things easy, like securing your drive using a password.
- Getting your devices registered.
- Downloading and installation of various WD programs.
- Keeping the software offered by WD up-to-date.
Steps To Install
- On your computer, navigate to the WD Discovery Download Site and download the software.
- Go to the location of the downloaded file on your computer. Right-click this .zip file and then extract the installer from it.
- Right-click the installer. From the displayed options, choose Run as administrator.
- If you are prompted to select the Yes or No option, choose Yes.
- You will now find the window with the Welcome to WD Discovery message. Here, click on the Install Now button to continue with the WD Discovery software installation.
- You can see the window with the Installing… message. You have to wait patiently for WD Discovery to get installed on your computer.
- Go to the bottom-right corner of your computer’s system tray. Here, you will find the WD icon.
- Click on the icon to launch WD Discovery.
- In case you have attached any WD external drive to your computer, it will automatically get detected by WD Discovery.
