Finder Preferences:

  • Navigate to the Finder, select the Preferences option, and click the General tab.
  • The External disks checkbox must be selected.
  • Click the Sidebar tab, go to the Location section, and select the External disks option.

Mount your WD EasyStore Hard Drive:

  • Navigate to the Applications folder and then click the Utilities option followed by the Disk Utility option.
  • Select the Show All Devices option, choose the WD Easystore hard drive, and click the Mount option.
  • This will mount the WD Easystore hard drive.

Disk Utility:

  • Launch the Disk Utility window.
  • Navigate to the External section and select the WD Easystore hard drive on the left panel.
  • Once you click the First Aid option, a prompt dialog box will appear on the screen with a confirmation message.
  • Click the Run option to begin.
  • After finishing the repairing process, select the Done option.


  • In the Disk Utility window, click the WD Easystore hard drive on the left panel.
  • Click the Erase option at the top of the Disk Utility window.
  • When the Erase window opens, fill the Name, Format, and Scheme fields and click the Erase button.

WD Software:

  • The Mac computer might not recognize the WD Easystore hard drive if the installed WD software is not compatible.
  • In this case, you need to update the WD software via the WD Discovery software.
