Steps for WD My Cloud Connect to PC

This web page contains information about the WD My Cloud Connect to PC on your Windows and Mac computer.

For Windows:

  • Connect the WD My Cloud hard drive to a wall outlet using the power adapter.
  • Use an Ethernet cable to establish a hardware connection between the WD My Cloud hard drive and your wireless router.
  • Ensure that both the WD My Cloud hard drive and your Windows computer must be connected to the same network.
  • Once the LED on the WD My Cloud hard drive turns blue, proceed with the following steps.
  • Go to the Windows computer, launch the default web browser, and visit the official WD web page.
  • After selecting the WD My Cloud hard drive, click the Download Setup Software button.
  • If any prompt dialog box opens on the screen, select the Save File option.
  • This will save the WD My Cloud hard drive’s setup software on the Windows computer.
  • Once you click the downloaded setup software, the installation wizard starts.
  • After clicking the Get Started button, mark the checkbox next to the ‘I accept the terms of the License Agreement’ option and click the Next to proceed.
  • Note: If needed, read the license agreement of the Western Digital software. Click the Next button twice.
  • The Set up your Personal Cloud dialog window appears on the screen.
  • Fill the First Name and Last Name fields with your name.
  • And, it is optional to provide your email address in the Email Address field.
  • If necessary, mark the checkbox beside the ‘Allow register my WD My Cloud with this information’ option.
  • Click the Next button in the ‘Set up your personal cloud’ dialog window.
  • After checking the account details, click the Next button in the Your Account dialog window.
  • Now, the ‘Congratulations! Your WD My Cloud is set up ‘ message will appear on the screen.
  • Once you select the checkbox next to the ‘Install the WD My Cloud application’ option, click the Finish button.
  • This will prompt the User Account Control dialog box on the screen. Select the Yes option to continue.
  • When the installation dialog box opens, select your preferred language and click the OK button.
  • Review the Western Digital software’s End User License Agreement, select the radio button beside the ‘I accept the terms of the license agreement’ option, and click the Next button.
  • The progress of the WD My Cloud software will be shown on the screen.
  • Once the ‘WD My Cloud has been installed successfully’ message displays, click the Done button.

For Mac:

  • Plug the WD My Cloud hard drive’s power cable into an electrical socket.
  • Connect an Ethernet cable between the rear side of the WD My Cloud hard drive and your wireless router.
  • Once the network connection is successful, the blue LED will stay lit on the WD My Cloud hard drive.
  • Go to your Mac computer, open a Safari web browser, and navigate to the WD My Cloud software download web page.
  • Choose the WD My Cloud hard drive and then click the Download Setup software to save the setup software of the WD My Cloud hard drive.
  • Navigate to the Downloads folder, search for the WD My Cloud setup software, and click it to start its installation process on the Mac computer.
  • When the WD My Cloud Personal Cloud Storage dialog box opens, select the Get Started option.
  • After selecting the ‘I accept the terms of the License Agreement’ option, click Next Next Next.
  • Provide your full name in the First Name and Last Name fields. If needed, enter your email address in the Email Address field.
  • To register your WD My Cloud account with these details, select the ‘Allow register WD My Cloud with this information’ option and click Next.
  • Select Next Install the WD My Cloud application Finish. This will open the ‘Welcome to the WD My Cloud Installer’ dialog box.
  • Click the Continue button twice and then select either the Agree or Disagree option.
  • Select the ‘Install for all users of this computer’ option and click the Continue button in the Select a Destination dialog box.
  • After clicking the Install button, type the administrator password in the Password field if prompted.
  • Click the Install Software button to proceed.
  • Once the ‘The installation was successful’ message appears on the screen, exit the installation wizard by clicking the Close button. Now, WD My Cloud Connect to PC process completed successfully.
