How to connect the WD My Cloud EX4100 drive?

  • Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the WD My Cloud EX4100 drive’s rear port.
  • Plug the Ethernet cable’s other end to your router’s LAN port.
  • Connect the AC power adapter’s one end to the drive’s power supply socket.
  • Plug the AC adapter’s other end to a power outlet.
  • Now, the drive turns on automatically.
  • Once the Power LED on the drive turns blue, you can proceed further with the WD My Cloud EX4100 setup.

How to set up WD My EX4100 using a web browser?

  • Launch your computer’s web browser.
  • Type the drive’s URL in the address bar.
  • Press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  • When you see the login page on the screen, enter your user name and click the Login button.
  • Note: You do not want to provide a password because you have not set up the drive yet.
  • Select your setup language from the Choose your language drop-down menu.
  • To review the WD software’s EULA, click the WD End User License Agreement link.
  • Return to the previous page.
  • Select the checkbox beside the I agree to the WD End User License Agreement option while the Wd my cloud Ex4100 setup.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • In the Getting Started window, create your password in the Password field.
  • Retype the password in the Confirm Password field.
  • Note: If you do not wish to create a password, you can leave both the Password and Confirm Password fields empty.
  • Click the Next button to continue.
  • Now, provide your first name, last name, and email address in the appropriate fields.
  • Note: If you want to create a WD account with remote access capability, your email address is mandatory.
  • Click the Save option.
  • Once you click Next, the final Getting Setting window opens.
  • You will see the Upload Content, Backup PC/MAC, and Accessing Mobile options on the screen. You can perform any of these steps as you require.

  • To update the drive’s firmware automatically, select the checkbox beside the Automatically update device firmware when available option.
  • If you want to register your drive, select the Register the WD My Cloud device to receive continuous product support checkbox.
  • Select the Participate in Product improvement Program option if you wish to participate in the product improvement program.
  • To finish the WD My EX4100 setup, click the Finish option.
  • Now, you can see the drive’s dashboard on the screen.
  • Finally, complete the Wd my cloud Ex4100 setup.
