Solution 1 - Replace the Faulty Ethernet Cable

  • Check if the Ethernet cable that you have used to connect the WD My Cloud Personal drive and your router is faulty.
  • If it is faulty, replace it with a new one.

Solution 2 - Different Network Port

  • Try to plug the Ethernet cable into another LAN port of the router.
  • Note: Most of the routers have four networking ports.

Solution 3 - Re-establish the Connection

  • Unplug the Ethernet cable from the wireless router and the WD drive.
  • Leave it for a few seconds.
  • Reconnect the WD drive to the router using the Ethernet cable.

Solution 4 - Direct Connection without the Ethernet Cable

Try to connect the WD drive directly to the router without using the network cable.

Solution 5 - Reset the WD drive

  • With the WD My Cloud Personal drive turned on, insert a paper clip into the Reset button.
  • Hold it for four seconds.
  • Note: You can even use a narrow-tipped pen to press the Reset button.
  • Wait until the WD drive reboots.
  • This might take up to a maximum of three minutes.
  • To restore the drive, turn on the drive and press the Reset button at the same time.
  • Note: You have to hold the Reset button for 40 seconds.
