My Cloud Streaming Problems

Disabling DLNA And iTunes

  • Access the dashboard of the WD My Cloud drive.
  • Click the Settings tab at the upper-right corner of the screen and select the Media option on the left panel.
  • Go to the DLNA Media Server section, click the View Media Players link, and disable the media streaming feature to all players except your player.
  • Also, disable the iTunes feature.
  • This will help to minimize the interference and you can stream media without any problem.
  • Check if the streaming issue has been resolved.
  • If not, try to reset the WD My Cloud drive.

Resetting The Drive

  • With My Cloud turned on - Take a paper clip or narrow-tipped pen and insert it into the Reset button on the drive.
  • Hold this button for approximately four seconds.
  • The WD My Cloud drive will reboot and it might take up to a maximum of three minutes for the drive to be reset. This wil help you to fix WD My Cloud streaming issues.
  • This process will not erase your files on the drive.
  • With My Cloud turned off - Turn on the WD My Cloud drive and at the same time, hold the Reset button for 40 seconds.
  • The drive will be reset.

Firmware Update

  • The WD My Cloud drive’s firmware should be updated frequently whenever an update is available.
  • To update the firmware automatically, click Settings -> Firmware and turn on the Enable Auto Update feature.
  • Go to the Update Schedule field, set a frequency, and click the Save option.
  • To update the drive firmware manually, download the firmware file from the manufacturer website.
  • Open the drive’s dashboard, navigate to the Firmware page, and go to the Manual Update section.
  • Click Update from File, choose the downloaded firmware file, and select the Install and Reboot option.
