You can access the data on your device or the cloud storage account easily through a USB connection or wireless network. The drive firmware enables it to communicate with the device it is connected to. Download the firmware:
- Launch the web browser window on the computer and visit the official WD support website.
- Go to the Software and Download page and select the operating system of your computer or the WD firmware.
- After that, select WD My Passport Wireless Pro from the Product drop-down list.
- When you download the firmware, save it on the desktop and close the window.
Install the firmware:
- Once you have downloaded the latest firmware version on the computer, connect the WD drive to your computer via a wireless network.
- When the system detects the drive, open the browser window and enter the IP address of the drive to access the dashboard.
- On the drive dashboard, click the Firmware icon at the top right end.
- You can see the current firmware version under the Version tab. Now, go to the Manual Update division.
- Click the Update from File button and then select the firmware file you saved on the desktop.
- If the system prompts, confirm the action and click the Install and Reboot menu.
- Wait until the update is complete. Now, the drive starts to reboot.
- When the drive disconnects, try to connect the drive and open the dashboard in the browser window.
- Verify the firmware version of the drive.
