Wd My Cloud Accessible Direct Pc But No Connectivity On Router

Western Digital My Cloud is a cloud-based storage device that can be accessed over a network. To utilize the maximum features of WD My Cloud, you need to connect it to a stable Internet connection. If the Internet connection is poor or not stable, then you will see the orange or red light blinking on the control panel of the device. Now, if your WD My Cloud drive connected to a PC but not a router, then the following troubleshooting instructions will help you resolve it.

Method 1: Check The Connectivity

  • First, make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected securely between the router and WD My Cloud drive.
  • If not, connect it securely.
  • If your PC is connected to the router over a wireless network, then connect it to the wired network and vice versa.

Method 2: Update Firmware

Check if the WD MyCloud drive’s firmware is up-to-date or not. To check it, follow the instructions given below.

  • Go to your WD MyCloud interface.
  • Click the Firmware tab.
  • Now, if the latest update is available, then it will be displayed on the screen.
  • Similarly, if the firmware is up-to-date, the corresponding message will be displayed on the screen.

Method 3: Try A Switch

  • Use a switch to connect your PC and the drive to the router.
  • Initially, connect both the devices to a network switch using an Ethernet cable.
  • After doing it, connect the network switch to the router.
  • Now, check if the issue is resolved.

Method 4: Change Remote Access

  • If you encounter an issue with remote access, then change its type from auto to manual in the My Cloud Dashboard Settings.
  • After doing it, go to your router’s web access page and set alternative external ports to the My Cloud. If still your WD My Cloud drive connected to a PC but not a router issue, click the call button available on the screen.
