Solve Wd Smartware Continuous Backup Problems

WD SmartWare is a software that enables you to backup data on all types of WD hard drives. It supports two types of backup methods, which are Continuous and Scheduled. The SmartWare software helps you to manage and control the backup operation. Solution-1: Check the Continuous backup setting

  • Some users forget to choose the appropriate backup option. So use the below steps to enable Continuous backup.
  • Open WD SmartWare’s main window and select the drive you have to back up in the Home panel.
  • Now, select the Backup tab and click Enable Backup to turn on the backup.
  • Following that, click the Set Backup Frequency button, choose WD Smartware Bontinuous Backup, and click OK.

Solution-2: Update the SmartWare

  • Make sure you are using the latest WD SmartWare software on the drive. If not, use the following instructions to update the SmartWare.
  • Visit the official WD support site and find the latest version of WD SmartWare under Software & Downloads.
  • Click the Download button to download the software on the computer.
  • Open the SmartWare software updater to begin the installation.
  • Follow the guided instructions to run the software updation.
  • When the update is complete, restart the computer.
  • Next, launch the WD Smartware continuous backup program, go to the Backup panel, and select the Start Backup.
  • Also, set the backup frequency to Continuous Backup.

Solution-3: Look for the other backup options

  • If any other backup settings are turned on, then the WD SmartWare won’t work on the system.
  • Open the Programs and Features window on the Windows computer and find the WD Smartware continuous backup program running on the system.

Solution-4: See if the backup file is open

  • If you have opened any backup file on the computer, then the backup process would stop.
  • Verify that all the backup files are closed and not running. Then continue with the backup process.

Solution-5: Check the selected backup files

  • When you are selecting the files on the system to back up, see that you do not select the system files.
  • The WD Smartware continuous backup can backup every file except the OS files or any other system files.
