WD Smartware Error 1603

When the WD SmartWare application fails to upgrade, the error 1603 appears. The error may also occur if the installation fails on your Windows computer. Proceed with the steps that are given below to fix the WD SmartWare error 1603 on a Windows computer.

  • Check whether your computer has a proper internet connection.
  • Make sure that the antivirus or firewall program on your computer is not blocking the installation of the software.
  • If you have already installed the software, uninstall the software and remove all the installation files.
  • Make sure to connect your WD external drive to your computer.
  • Now, go to the official Western Digital website from a web browser.
  • Navigate to the Supports page and select the WD SmartWare software.
  • Select your operating system and version from the drop-down list. Then, click on the Download option.
  • Open the WD SmartWare by double-clicking the installer file.
  • Continue with the installation by following the instructions in the setup wizard.
  • If the error appears again, then it might be due to issues in the OS.
  • You have to resolve the MSI software corruption issues to fix the problem.
  • Go to the official Microsoft website and navigate to the Update section.
  • Check whether a Windows update is available and install the update on your computer.
  • After updating the OS, try installing the WD SmartWare software and check whether the issue has been resolved.
  • If the error occurs again, download a cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework versions from your computer.
  • Make sure to download the cleanup tool from a trusted source.
  • Once the tool is installed, delete the .NET Framework versions and restart your computer.
  • If you have not updated your Windows operating system, go to the Settings window.
  • Select the Update & Security section and click the Windows Update tab.
  • Now, click Check for Updates and verify whether an update is available. Then, install the update if available.
  • After updating Windows, again install WD SmartWare to fix the issue.
