Solution:

  • The first step is to check whether there is any other backup software on your computer. If there is such a program on your computer, it might have performed the backup task before your WD SmartWare does it. This will result in the over-writing of your new content by its older version from Cloud.
  • If the above scenario is not the reason behind your problem, check if your WD SmartWare is up-to-date. There are two types of backups possible with WD SmartWare. They are the Continuous Backup and the Scheduled Backup.
  • Now, you cannot perform a Scheduled Backup with WD SmartWare 1.6.X. Therefore, if you need to perform a Scheduled Backup, you first have to update WD SmartWare to its latest version.
  • WD SmartWare does only a file-by-file copy. So, check whether you have chosen system files as your backup items.
  • Try finding out if your backup items are in use. This is because you cannot back up the files that are in use with WD SmartWare.
  • In case you are using the Windows 10 OS, you have to obtain the WD SmartWare that is meant for and supported by Windows 10.
  • If you are using the Continuous Backup option, try switching over to the Scheduled Backup option.
  • Now, check whether WD SmartWare is able to back up your newly created files. Also, see if this software can back up the edited files on your computer.
