Western Digital 2TB External Hard Drive Failure

  • Open the Western Digital 2TB external hard drive’s outer box.

  • First, you have to display the Run window by pressing the Win + R keys on the keyboard.
  • Enter the command line ‘diskmgmt.msc’ without the single quotes and select the OK button. This will open the Disk Management window.

  • Click the Initialize Disk option. Once you have chosen the partition system, select the desk.

SOLUTION 2

  • Open the Device Manager window.
  • Select Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> USB Root Hub -> Properties.
  • In the USB Root Hub Properties window, select the Power Management tab.
  • Remove the checkmark next to the ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save the power’ option.
  • Select OK -> restart the computer.

SOLUTION 3

  • Select Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Check for Updates.
  • This will update the Western Digital 2TB hard disk device driver on the computer.
