EdgeRover Desktop App 

This application helps you to manage the different types of data stored on your computer and WD external drive. It supports Windows 8.1 and Mac OS. To install the EdgeRover Desktop app on your Windows or Mac computer, follow the below instructions.

  • Go to the Western Digital Store from your Windows or Mac computer.
  • Choose the EdgeRover Desktop application.
  • Click on the Download for Mac or Download for Windows button based on your OS type.
  • Once the app’s installer file is downloaded, connect your WD external drive to your computer, and launch the application.
  • Perform the on-screen instructions to finish the EdgeRover Desktop Western Digital App Setup. Once it is done, you can search, browse, and access the content that you’re looking for using the EdgeRover Desktop app.

Acronis True Image

The Acronis True Image app helps you to protect your data from all kinds of threats using an AI-based defense program. This application also helps you to take a backup of all your important data.   • From WD’s official support page, download the Acronis True Image.zip  file.

Data Lifeguard Diagnostic (WD Digital Dashboard Utility)

The Data Lifeguard Diagnostic app helps you to test the status of almost all the WD external and internal drives. This application was replaced with the WD Digital Dashboard Utility. If you’re using the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic app on your computer, then uninstall it, and install the WD Digital Dashboard Utility. To perform the Western Digital Dashboard utility setup on your Windows computer, follow the below instructions.

  • Download the WD Dashboard utility installer from WD’s official support page.
  • Extract and open the file.
  • To set up the utility on your computer, accept the license agreement when prompted.
  • Follow the instructions to test your WD internal or external drive.
  • Once the test is completed, the status of the test will be displayed on the final screen.

GoodSync

If you have a habit of taking backup of your important files, then you can use the GoodSync application. This application will help you to back up the data stored on your computer to a WD drive. You can also move the data from the WD drive to a remote location using this application. To perform the GoodSync Western Digital app setup on your Windows or Mac computer, carry out the following instructions.

  • From WD’s official support page, download GoodSync for WD My Cloud.
  • Open the installer file.
  • In the main window, select the desired language from the drop-down menu.
  • Select Create a new GoodSync Account > Serve Files from this Computer to GoodSync clients.
  • Click on the Next button followed by Apply.

WD Discovery 

The WD Discovery application helps you to manage different WD external drives such as WD My Passport, WD Book, etc., in one place. Using this application, you can secure your drive using a security key. It also allows you to import data from cloud storage to any social media account of your desire.

  • To install the WD Discovery application on your computer, first, download the installer file from the official support page.
  • After downloading the file, run it.
  • When prompted, click on the Install Now button.
  • If you’re installing this application on your Mac computer, then enter your Mac computer’s administrator password in the given field when prompted and click on the OK button.
  • Once the WD Discovery app is installed, you can launch it and manage your drive as per your needs.

WD Security app

The WD Security app helps you to protect your WD drive from third-party access by creating and adding a password to it. 

  • Download the WD Security app installer file.
  • Double-click on the downloaded installer file to install the app on your computer.
  • Once the app is installed, open it and set the password protection for your WD drive by following the on-screen instructions.
