Solved: Why Can’t access My Cloud Home on Windows 10

The following steps are for fixing the Can’t access My Cloud Home issue on a Windows 10 computer.

  • Click the Start icon and then open the Control Panel window.
  • Click the Credential Manager option. Under the Manage your Credentials tab, select Windows Credentials.
  • Navigate to the Windows Credentials option below the Backup Credentials/Restore Credentials tab.
  • Click the Add a Windows credential option. When the next screen opens, type the WD My Cloud device name in the ‘Internet or Network address’ field.
  • Provide the username and password of your WD My Cloud account in the respective fields on the screen. Finally, click OK.
  • Now, restart your computer. Once the computer turns on, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows and R keys together.
  • Type ‘regedit’ and tap the Enter key to open the Registry editor screen.
  • In the User Account Control box that pops up, click the Yes tab.
  • The Registry Editor window opens. Go to the path: HKEY_LLOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWOrkstation.
  • Now, on the Right pane, give a right-click in a blank space, select New, and click the DWORD (32-bit) value.
  • Rename the new DWORD value file as ‘AllowInsecureGuestAuth.’ Now, click twice on the new value.

Why “Desktop” Folder not displaying “Sync” icon “WD Discovery” app?

  • My cloud Desktop sync can sync only the folders available in the path C:\Users\\Desktop on a Windows Computer and the folders available within Users\\Desktop on a Mac computer.
  • It is to be noted that WD does not display sync icon for the Desktop as a whole but for the folders on the desktop.
  • Check the Sync from Desktop folder created on the My Cloud Home device. Check if the Unsync option is enabled. If so, deselect the Unsync option and start syncing the contents of the Desktop again.
  • If there is a sync issue, your desktop app might not have been installed properly.
  • Log out from MyCloud.com. Uninstall the WD Recovery software.
  • Install any pending updates for your OS. Now, reboot your computer.
  • Reinstall the WD Discovery software. Now, on the software, go to the Resources and More section and check if there are any updates available for MY Cloud Desktop and install them.
  • Restart your computer. Open the WD Discovery software again and log into MyCloud.com.
  • Set up Desktop sync and check if the folders on your desktop are able to sync.
  • Note that the folders in the drive where the Operating System of your computer is installed will not be synced.

Why My Cloud Home Offline?

  • The Device Offline status displays when the app on your mobile/desktop fails to connect to My Cloud via Web.
  • Make sure the power consumed by My cloud Home Device matches with its capacity.
  • Reboot the device after disconnecting any power adapter connected to it.
  • Reconnect the adapter back to the unit and power up the device.
  • Make sure the Ethernet cable is properly plugged into the correct port.
  • Check the Internet connection. Power cycle the router or whichever network hardware you are using.
